That’s why I decided to make it the first image you see on my website. It pops. But not like pops. Like POPS. (Maybe throw in an exclamation mark for effect.)
I mean, the sky, the clouds, the grass, and the way it all came out of the edit are just magnificent. The warmth and yet also the coolness, all at the same time.
It’s golf in one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Two of my favorite things. How could it get any better than that?
Perfect palm trees, a brilliant bunker, the way the cart path closes off the right edge, it’s just the all around best photo I’ve ever taken. Or is it?
Ultimately, photography is subjective, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And truthfully? I wake up a new beholder every day.
Every day, I wake up with a new favorite, new criteria, new ideas for what I think should be a good photo.
Some days, it’s a photo I’ve already taken. Some days, it’s a photo I saw and want to emulate. Some days, it’s a photo I’m waiting for the perfect conditions to capture. Some days, I’m not even sure it’s a good photo.
Honestly, it’s never the same. But, thats what allows for innovation, for growth.
As a kid, I always ordered the same thing off the menu. You know, hamburger and fries. But as life goes on, I’m finding so much more out there to experience. Who would’ve known Elote tasted so good?
So, while today I might think this is the best photo in my camera roll, tomorrow that will most likely change.
I’ll probably still really like this photo but I’m sure I’ll become enamored with something else and I’m sure I’ll fall down the rabbit hole over and over again, and continue to trundle down new paths.
And although I truly thank you for taking the first step to joining me along this journey, deep down I know that that could all change tomorrow.
I hope you’ll continue to come back, offering critiques and compliments along the way, and maybe, when all is said and done, we’ll have learned something together.
Maybe even, if we’re lucky, what a good photo looks like. ;P
